In early 2024, the Chicago Botanic Garden released a new strategic plan with bold ambitions to achieve global recognition for its nature-based initiatives and their impact on how people experience, value, and care for the planet. To support this ambitious vision, Garden leaders began discussions about a capital campaign and engaged Benefactor Group for assistance.
Benefactor Group’s initial work focused on refining the key ideas from the strategic plan and creating a compelling philanthropic vision designed to inspire transformational gifts. Through discovery interviews and group discussions, we developed a concept paper centered on this vision, which will be shared and tested with potential donors.
Following this, we assessed the Garden’s internal readiness for a campaign, identifying areas of strength and opportunities for growth. Our team guided the leaders through a comprehensive campaign preparation plan, ensuring the organization’s infrastructure is aligned with its fundraising goals.
We continued our partnership with the Chicago Botanic Garden by conducting a donor sentiment assessment. This involved interviewing key donors and prospects to gauge their interest in the vision and to inform effective campaign strategies. This collaborative approach aimed to build a solid foundation for a successful campaign to significantly advance the Garden’s mission.
