In late 2014, Legal Aid Society of Columbus (LASC) partnered with Benefactor Group to create a robust and effective strategic plan. Benefactor Group was responsible for assisting the staff, planning committee, and board through the discovery process, a strategic leadership retreat, and the final three-year strategic plan.
The discovery process included internal review, training LASC staff for key constituent interviews, setting up the survey, and facilitating two preparation meetings. The strategic planning leadership retreat was a day-long interactive session to help determine goals and measurements for each concept identified in the strategic planning process. The Benefactor Group team also created a memorandum with a summary of the goals, objectives, and indicators of success from the retreat.
Once the strategic plan was finished, Benefactor Group held a meeting with LASC to ensure that the plan document accurately reflected the outcomes from the retreat and that the goals and outcomes could be tracked. Our team also provided an opportunity to ensure that the plan’s goals and metrics could be monitored and implemented.
