Benefactor Group is pleased to welcome Lori Gatmaitan to our team as a Senior Consultant. Lori is a strategic and mission-driven nonprofit leader who helps organizations leverage technology to advance philanthropy and impact. She brings more than two decades of experience connecting people, purpose, and systems—aligning data and digital tools with organizational strategy to drive engagement and results.
Before joining Benefactor Group, Lori served in leadership roles across the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors, guiding technology adoption, donor engagement, and organizational development initiatives. Her background spans engineering, fundraising, and event management, providing a unique perspective on how thoughtful use of technology can strengthen mission delivery and equity.
Lori holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Kettering University and an M.S. in Organizational Leadership, with a concentration in Nonprofit Management, from Robert Morris University. She is a National Diversity Council Certified Diversity Professional and was recognized by Crain’s Detroit Business as a Notable Woman in Nonprofits.
Outside of her professional work, Lori lives in Metro Detroit with her family and enjoys (decaffeinated) coffee, anything Peloton, reading, volunteering, and time spent along Michigan’s lakeshores.
Lori’s strategic, systems-oriented approach makes her a valuable partner in helping mission-driven organizations harness technology to strengthen philanthropy, improve operations, and amplify impact.
To learn more about Lori Gatmaitan, check out this preview of her Why I Serve:
What gives me hope is the sector’s resilience—its ability to adapt, evolve, respond to change, and endure. We’re living in a time of rapid transformation, and that includes the philanthropic landscape. In fact, I’m not even sure the word philanthropy fully captures what this work is becoming. What’s especially encouraging is the energy of the next generation: activists and changemakers who both support and challenge the sector to do better. Their engagement signals a shift toward deeper investment and broader participation, which can only strengthen the sector moving forward."
