Abby Shue

Vice President

Abby Shue is a seasoned nonprofit executive with over 15 years of leadership experience. She currently leads Benefactor Group’s capacity building practice, partnering with nonprofit staff and boards to strengthen organizations through comprehensive assessments and actionable plans that advance development, governance, and overall effectiveness.

Abby is known for coaching high-performing teams, cultivating mission-driven relationships, and leveraging data-informed strategy to exceed ambitious revenue goals. She has led initiatives to grow audiences and champion inclusion across the organizations she has served. In addition to fundraising, her expertise also includes board governance, marketing, communications, membership, events, program development and evaluation, strategic planning, and government relations.

Prior to joining Benefactor Group, Abby held senior leadership roles including Deputy Director of External Relations and Advancement at the Speed Art Museum, Vice President of Development at Fund for the Arts, and Vice President at Kentucky Performing Arts. Her work has earned recognition from Association of Performing Arts Presenters (APAP), and the International Society for the Performing Arts (ISPA), Business First of Louisville and Insider Louisville, among others.

Abby holds a Master of Business Administration from Vanderbilt University, where she was awarded a competitive full-tuition scholarship for nonprofit executives, and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Ballet from Butler University. She holds a Certificate in Nonprofit Board Consulting from BoardSource. Based in Louisville, she lives with her husband and two children and is active in the community, currently serving as Chair of the Board of Louisville Public Media.
