In 2006, St. Vincent Family Centers (St. Vincent) partnered with Benefactor Group to prepare for a capital campaign by equipping its board with the knowledge and skills needed for a successful fundraising effort. Benefactor Group guided the board through its role in the campaign, providing training on campaign fundamentals, the fundraising process, and board responsibilities. Benefactor Group conducted and facilitated six one-to-two-hour training sessions, culminating in a written summary of key takeaways. Consultants also established an ad hoc campaign planning committee by evaluating prospective members, providing supporting materials, and facilitating two initial meetings. Committee members received coaching to define campaign goals, establish a timeline, structure committees, and refine campaign plans leading up to the official launch. Through this collaboration, St. Vincent strengthened its leadership capacity and laid the foundation for a well organized and strategic capital campaign.
