In 2017, St. Francis DeSales High School collaborated with Benefactor Group to evaluate the philanthropic appeal and potential leadership gifts for a proposed $17.5 million campaign aimed at supporting academic refinements, property enhancements, athletic upgrades, and endowment. Benefactor Group conducted a comprehensive study that included 31 individual interviews, three group discussions with staff, parents, and alumni, and an online survey that garnered 276 responses.

The findings revealed that more than 90% of respondents believed the campaign would guide the school in the right direction. However, there was a notable division regarding the allocation of funds toward athletics, with some advocating for increased support while others felt it should be reduced. Despite the majority support for the campaign goal, concerns about previous fundraising experiences made many respondents hesitant to commit.

In light of these insights, Benefactor Group recommended a revised goal of raising up to $7 million for the next phase of the campaign. Additionally, they suggested refining the campaign goals, establishing a dedicated development office and campaign staff, and actively cultivating prospective donors for the campaign.
