The people of Montana created a historical society before statehood was granted. Since 1865, this organization has collected, shared, and celebrated the extraordinary influences of Native cultures, explorers, settlers, miners, merchants, and artisans who shaped the state. In 2010, Benefactor Group met with board members to begin planning an ambitious expansion of the historical society’s facility next to the state capital in Helena.

Benefactor Group supported Montana Historical Society‘s efforts to secure significant state funding and planning a fundraising campaign to complete the project’s $37.5 million goal. This initiative aims to enhance society’s capacity to preserve and share Montana’s rich history with future generations.
