In 2016, the Galena-Jo Daviess County Historical Society engaged Benefactor Group to assess the philanthropic appeal and potential for leadership gifts in support of a proposed campaign for a new museum. Through 39 interviews and two facilitated group discussions, consultants gathered insights into perceptions of the organization and the proposed plan. Based on the findings, Benefactor Group recommended preparing to launch a campaign for $7 million to support the construction of the initial phase of the new museum.
Following the feasibility study, Galena-Jo Daviess County Historical Society continued its partnership with Benefactor Group to develop a comprehensive campaign action plan. This plan outlined key steps to support fundraising activities, including strategies for success, a detailed timeline, a budget, and policy recommendations. Benefactor Group suggested the campaign run from November 2016 through December 2020, targeting a total of $7 million for land acquisition, construction or renovation costs, professional fees, museum displays, and campaign expenses.
Benefactor Group further supported Galena by crafting a case for support and assisting with initial campaign preparations to ensure a strong foundation for the campaign’s success.
