In early 2015, the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library (NCSML) partnered with Benefactor Group to search for a Chief Development Officer. The Benefactor Group team was responsible for three phases: organizational review and planning, search and selection, and post-hire executive launch and support.

The organizational review and planning phase involved understanding the museum’s culture and environment, confirming key attributes and expectations for the new development officer, and preparing collateral materials to support the search. This included a compensation summary, a job profile and announcement, and a search plan that outlined the timetable, budget, and strategies for targeted outreach and advertising.

The search and selection phase encompassed recruiting, screening, selecting, and hiring candidates. The Benefactor Group team was responsible for targeted outreach to build a strong pool of candidates, reviewing and screening resumes, coordinating the interview process with tailored behavior-based questions, and assisting in negotiations as needed.

The final phase, post-hire executive launch and support, focused on planning a welcome and orientation for the new development officer. This included developing an onboarding agenda, providing informal telephone check-in calls with the new hire, and assisting with the development of a performance plan to ensure a smooth transition into the role.
