Abby Shue is an accomplished nonprofit executive and trusted advisor with nearly two decades of leadership in philanthropy, fundraising, and strategy. She brings a distinctive blend of first-hand executive experience and consulting expertise—having both led complex organizations and guided clients nationwide through transformational growth. Throughout her career, Abby has advanced mission-driven organizations across the arts and culture, health, human services, and education sectors—helping leaders navigate complexity, unlock philanthropic potential, and achieve lasting impact.
As Executive Vice President & Partner at Benefactor Group, Abby leads the firm’s consulting team and oversees delivery across fundraising, strategy, governance, talent, and nonprofit technology. She partners with boards, executives, and staff to design practical, data-informed solutions that strengthen fundraising capacity, build organizational resilience, and position nonprofits for sustainable success. Recognized for her ability to coach high-performing teams and foster mission-driven partnerships, Abby consistently helps organizations exceed ambitious goals through collaboration, innovation, and disciplined execution.
Prior to joining Benefactor Group, Abby held senior executive roles including Deputy Director of External Relations and Advancement at the Speed Art Museum, Vice President of Development at Fund for the Arts, and Vice President at Kentucky Performing Arts. Her leadership has been recognized by the Association of Performing Arts Presenters (APAP), the International Society for the Performing Arts (ISPA), and has received several Louisville Business First recognitions, including Forty Under Forty and Top Nonprofit Executive.
Abby’s expertise spans high-impact philanthropy, campaign strategy, governance, marketing and communications, membership, events, program development, and government relations. She has led six- to nine-figure campaigns, strengthened fundraising infrastructure, and advanced organizations through strategic planning, governance, and executive search.
Abby earned her MBA from Vanderbilt University on a full-tuition scholarship for nonprofit executives and holds a BA in Journalism and Ballet from Butler University. Abby is a Certified BoardSource Nonprofit Board Consultant and currently chairs the board of Louisville Public Media.
