Jerusha Schmalzel

Senior Consultant, Data Analyst

Combining nonprofit leadership experience with lead roles as a technology solutions engineer, Jerusha leads Benefactor Group’s Nonprofit Technology service line. Her focus is on internal assessments, system selections and implementations, and data-driven culture.  

Most recently a lead solutions engineer at Airtable, Jerusha joined the tech world as an arts and cultural sector specialist at Blackbaud. At Airtable, she played a pivotal role in driving success through the development of low-/no-code software solutions for some of the company’s largest clients, including Apple, Amazon, and Cisco. At Blackbaud, Jerusha partnered across sales and product teams to provide strategic solutions to arts and culture customers. Previously, she held leadership positions at FOOD Share of Ventura County, and Tucson Symphony Orchestra.  

Jerusha has served on advisory boards and steering committees for organizations like the Museum of Contemporary Art Tucson and the Ventura County Nonprofit Leadership Council. She is a frequent speaker, sharing insights on technology, AI, and fundraising strategies at conferences and workshops across the country. A self-confessed “nonprofit arts nerd,” Jerusha has a degree in theater arts from the University of Arizona and started her career as a manager in regional theaters. She lives in Tucson.
