New Bedford Whaling Museum

Anchored in the heritage of Massachusetts’ SouthCoast, the New Bedford Whaling Museum ignites learning through explorations in regional art, history, science, and culture. The museum’s million-artifact collections and thought-provoking programs inspire more than 100,000 visitors and drive over $10 million in economic impact each year. Following a year-long campus master planning process, the museum’s leaders developed a new vision to reimagine the visitor experience and expand the museum’s physical footprint. To this end, Benefactor Group partnered with the museum to assess the feasibility of a major capital campaign. We found the organization was well-positioned to launch a campaign and recommended a philanthropic goal of $25 million. We continue to collaborate with the museum as its leaders begin campaign preparations.
