Leaders from The Greater Cincinnati Foundation and United Way of Greater Cincinnati sought to explore their potential for collaboration in building a human services endowment to address the needs of residents in Southern Ohio and Northern Kentucky. Benefactor Group facilitated this initiative by conducting 41 interviews with civic, corporate, and philanthropic leaders across both states, polling nonprofit directors, identifying model partnerships nationwide, and estimating the community’s financial capacity.

Based on the findings, Benefactor Group designed a comprehensive endowment-building program for the partnership and facilitated a series of five training sessions focused on endowment-building strategies for the combined development staff of both organizations.

In 2010, the United Way of Greater Cincinnati further engaged Benefactor Group to conduct a pre-campaign study, which included 14 high-profile interviews. Benefactor Group subsequently guided the United Way in executing a successful $10 million capital campaign to fund the expansion and renovation of their headquarters on Reading Road.
