As Dayton’s only 24/7 emergency shelter for youth ages 10 to 19, Daybreak provides essential services such as food, shelter, counseling, clothing, safety, and stability to over 200 young people each year. Benefactor Group was engaged to conduct a feasibility study to assess Daybreak’s ability to raise $4 million for the expansion of its housing and employment training programs.
The community-wide study involved 40 interviews with individual, corporate, and foundation donors, as well as key community leaders. Benefactor Group crafted a four-page preliminary case for support that articulated Daybreak’s organizational vision and its commitment to meeting the needs of its targeted client base. The findings affirmed Daybreak’s potential to secure substantial support for homeless youth. Benefactor Group provided the clarity of focus, operational insights, and strategic recommendations necessary to guide Daybreak in launching a silent major gifts initiative.
