Nick Miesen, Consulting Associate, brings a dynamic combination of both nonprofit and entrepreneurial experiences to the Benefactor Group team. Nick brings over ten years of nonprofit fundraising, marketing, business operations and strategic innovation into the firm.
Prior to joining Benefactor Group, Nick has held senior positions at several human service organizations. During his tenure with the Boys & Girls Club of Cincinnati, he managed all aspects of development and saw the organization’s annual budget double in three short years. Under his direction, the organization received the largest gift in the organization’s history and created a planned giving program. Nick was one of the first employees at Flying Horse Farms, which, at the time, aspired to build the first Hole in the Wall Camp (SeriousFun Children’s Network) in the Midwest here in his home state of Ohio. In just three years, the organization raised over $15 million, built a state of the art facility literally from the ground up and began serving children with serious illnesses on site in the Fall of 2010. During his time with Flying Horse Farms, Nick developed significant relationships with donors from throughout the state, as well as leaders from the top children’s hospitals in the region.
Nick went on to start two small businesses in Central Ohio, both of which involve cutting-edge, web-based technology and services that are new to the market. He continues to be involved with both of these profitable endeavors, while always being eager to develop through new challenges and opportunities. His passion for implementing efficient practices in an effort to achieve sustainable results is at the core of all that he does.
