AJ Casey

AJ Casey, Of Counsel, has been a nonprofit leader, trainer, and consultant for more than 25 years. She specializes in capital campaigns, fundraising assessments and strategies, board training & advancement, as well as executive coaching and professional development. Additional areas of specialty include her work with start-up organizations and organizations focusing on people of color.

She has led fundraising projects of local, regional and national scope and has expertise managing large and complex projects involving multiple constituencies.  She has worked with nonprofit organizations of many genres, including foundations, faith-based organizations, arts & culture organizations.

AJ is a popular professional speaker and trainer, having presented at conferences throughout North America . Audiences from Texas to Toronto have raved about her engaging style and game-changing content.

Before launching her own firm in 2006, AJ served for eight years as a senior consultant and vice president in a national philanthropic consulting firm. Earlier, she held positions ranging from chief development officer to executive director within nonprofit organizations. Today she serves Of Counsel as a member of the Benefactor team.

AJ served for two years as a faculty member of the international Consultant’s Academy, co-sponsored by The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) International and the Giving Institute. In addition, she has held leadership roles on several boards of directors, serving most recently as the board chair for Mental Health America of Franklin County. She is a former vice president of National Speakers Association, Ohio chapter, and a former executive board member for the Columbus Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. AJ is an alumna of Georgetown University in Washington, DC, where she studied foreign languages and international economics. She has also earned certifications as a Certified Fund Raising Executive and a Certified LifeSuccess Coach.
