It’s not that asking for capital funds during tough times is tasteless. In our experience, supporters understand that if they’re hurting, you’re hurting; and they want to give if they can.
But there are certainly more sensitive ways to go about asking for funds in an economic downtime. Your supporters will appreciate your consideration of their current situation, and are more likely to give because of it.
As always, be courteous of your backers’ financial status, and if the answer is a flat-out “no”, simply thank them and ask when you might be able to circle back with them.
